Caldecott 25 Book Award
An award is given to a book for its overall illustrations and story. This is a great reading program for younger grades. Prize: Art supply item/notebook
Mad Scientist
Learn about animals, geodes, weather and more! What you learn is up to you, just read 500 pages of science books and earn a cool science prize!
Explorer (Updated)
Interested in the world around you? This program is for you! Prize: globe ball, the flag of choice
Graphic Novelist
Read Graphic novels and earn prizes!
Super Hero Reader
Requirements: Once a year; read 135 days (logged on RTS), complete 1 nonfiction reading program (Lyrical Poet, Mad Scientist, or Explorer). Complete 2 other reading programs (Beehive, Caldecott, Graphic Novelist), write what you can do to be a superhero.
Prize: For your first time, you win your very own superhero cape!
2nd time: a superhero bag filled with all kinds of prizes
Battle of the Books
Requirements: ( 3-6 ONLY- signed up over summer) Be on a team and compete for honor, glory and school domination.
Prize: 1st Place, gets to go on to the district battle as well as participate in an assembly where they can make our teachers do funny and crazy things!
King’s and Queens of Reading
Requirements: Read 100 days and log them on the RTS online calendar! (K-2 only)
Prize: A very kingly/queenly crown, and a free book! You will also be addressed as “your highness” or “King/Queen (your name)” for the day!
Poetry
Poetry is proven to help students deal with emotions, cope with stress and relax. It’s effects are similar to music.
Beehive
Get a bingo and get a prize from the Beehive box. Get a blackout and get a free book to add to your home library.
40 Book Challenge
Requirements: Read 40 books! (2 mysteries, 2 historical fiction, 2 fantasy, 2 graphic novels, 2 futuristic and 30 anything you want!)
Prize: A free book & a candy bar.
Provo Reads
Newbery
Requirements: Read 5 or more books on the Newbery winner or Newbery honor list. (grades 3-6 only)
Prize: For every 5 Newbery’s you read you receive a prize! Read 50 and get $10 to the scholastic book fair
