NewsHey Provost, on January 22, this year’s Newbery, Caldecott, and several other book awards were announced.
After spending a couple of months trying to read as many contenders as possible, Mrs. Wade’s fifth graders had a party to watch the livestream to see if any of their predictions were winners! They were thrilled to have picked one book that won a Newbery Honor as well as several other awards: Mexikid by Pedro Martín. It was a huge class favorite, right along with Dogtown by Katherine Applegate (which sadly didn’t win any awards, other than first place in our hearts!).
