Hey Provost, Miss Holland’s 4th grade class got a chance to learn about our sun and how its light projects down and casts shadows of objects. Part of their lesson was learning about how our planet rotates and that causes the light of the sun to change directions over time.

So Miss Holland’s 4th graders chose different times of the school day to go out to the blacktop and take turns tracing each others shadows with sidewalk chalk and comparing each time of the day with each shadow.

Then Miss Holland’s 4th graders finished the lesson by learning about sun dials and how keeping track of the movement the sun’s light is connected to the time of the day.

What a fun way to learn about light and shadows!
