Provost Elementary School

School Community Council  Minutes

January 16, 2025

Welcome- Laura motioned to call to order, Tony 2nd

Approval of Minutes- Cindy approved the minutes and Laura 2nd

Electronic Device Update- It is going well, no push back, the kids seem to know how to do it. In the past kids were playing games while in the pick up line and they are not anymore. Tony asked if the kids know the reason behind the new rules. Such as how screens have affected this generation’s brains. Trisha reported that she knows some of the teachers have talked about in class. Jennifer said district wide it is going well; kids are more focused.

MOY Data- There was a Title 1 Compliance visit and it went well. We were able to share our goals and plans. They wanted to know how we are addressing the student needs. We are focusing on Tier 1 reading instruction. Screeners are required by the state for older grades. The district required lower grades as well. BOY and MOY benchmarks help a lot to see how the kids are progressing. Planning to do NWEA testing on upper grades.

Board Updates- They just had their meeting and did some updating on policies. One of them was that if buses have room, people who don’t live in the bus areas could apply to ride if it was on the bus’s path. Talked about the Voucher program and that the district decided not to be a vendor for those using it. The Voucher program needs to be more regulated. Jennifer pleaded with us to write to the Legislators.

Other- There will be a Family Math Night on January 28th. There will be meetings held by a lady from the district to help parents who need help with different school procedures, attendance, and other needs. It will be by invitation.
