Welcome

Approval of Minutes- Camile approved the minutes and Cassie 2nd

Action Items Review and Discuss Safe Routes to School- We reviewed training and looked at the safe route map. There could be some updating on the Crosswalks and lights. Some suggestions for improvements were suggested. Such as the back of the school where the road gets very congested to widen the school zone area. A 4 way stop at 460 S and Utah Ave. Clean up the sidewalk on the east side of 1150 E. 300 N. 1060 E and 360 S. needs a crosswalk.

Front of the school has been working well with the added kindergarten lane.

The district will do a survey and study to see if improvement is warranted.

Board Updates- Jennifer asked about the NWEA testing. Principal Biggs explained that it is standardized testing that follows kids all the way through high school. We are all still learning about the test and how it works and what data it will help with. It is believed to be a better system to see how students will do on tests and their knowledge. It will give a percentage of the kids on their grade level. She also said that Dec will be middle of the year Acadience testing and that data will go out before the next SEP’s Jennifer’s District updates: Talked about the new Cell Phone policy. Timpview high school’s current rebuild phase is set to be done in February. They are still working on how to fund the rest. Looking at an MBA bond, it doesn’t need public vote so they can continue with construction in the meantime. The plan is to roll out bonds in sections instead of all at once. Talked about the options for the Dixon site. See district web page for details. Working on collecting community input from feasibility study and looking for people to apply to the Community Connections committee and the Parent advisory group. Expressed concern about the Speaker of the House to increase funding for the Voucher Program. Encouraged us all to understand it more and get our voices heard since the Speaker makes the final decision.

Other- The school will be having a Polar Express night for reading engagement. Randy Evensen will be reading the story Polar Express and the kids will get a ticket for reading and a prize. Help from the PTA is welcomed. The Holiday Sing is coming.

Someone asked about the possibility of adding swings to playgrounds.
