Hey Provost, is air made of anything?
This is what Mrs. Wade’s 5th graders set out to prove in an experiment conducted in their classroom. They put balloons into liter bottles with holes, and then tried to inflate the balloons with the holes covered and uncovered. They discovered that in a closed system, the balloon couldn’t inflate, and realized that was because there were particles inside the liter bottle blocking the balloon from inflating! But in an open system with the holes uncovered, they could inflate the balloons!
This is only one of a million different science experiments that you can do to learn something new about the environment around us.
Good learning to all of the 5th graders in Mrs. Wade’s class!
